In a trailblazing initiative in 2005, Lancashire County Council set up Partnership Boards and Reference Groups for physically disabled adults. Under their aegis, and with the support of partners in Health, Local Government, Emergency Services etc., these have become a real force for change.
The three Partnerships in East, North West and South Lancashire are chaired by, and involve disabled people. The Partnerships work both independently and in co-operation with each other as the Lancashire Physical Disability Partnership, creating a concerted show of strength when proposing and implementing change.
